The house by the lock

A. M. Williamson

First published in 1899, this is a neo Gothic mystery with creepy houses, and creepier dwellers and events there, a handsome hero, a beautiful, spineless heroine, at least two clear murders and a hint of many more, an evil villain...the works! Oh, and a happy ending.
